LABORATORY ASSISTANT 1

JOB PURPOSE:

To conduct analytical tests in a safe and ethical manner to produce accurate results to support the analytical and testing services of the Laboratory, in line with international and industry recognised standards under the supervision of senior staff (Chemist, Snr Chemist, Laboratory Manager). 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Conduct tests and analysis with an acceptable degree of accuracy and quality in conformance with established methods, instructions, and quality standards under the supervision of senior staff (Chemist, Snr Chemist, Laboratory Manager)
• Determine chemical & physical properties , compositions for the required products , prepare solutions and reagents to perform required tests
• Sampling of products based on the laboratory /customer requirements
• Record test results and support the production of test reports describing procedures/methodology used and present results in an appropriate/required manner
• Clean laboratory equipment and assist with the calibration of laboratory instruments in line with appropriate standards and internal procedures
• Follow laboratory requirements and procedures to ensure test/analytical results are available for issue in the agreed target times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a relevant science discipline
• Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Fluent english spoken and written

Recommendation: 

Must follow the business HSE rules and requirements, taking all reasonable steps to protect and ensure the health and safety of themselves and those that may be impacted by their actions. Only use equipment they are properly trained and competent to use, and not modify such equipment. Actively assesses risks and hazards and applies appropriate controls to mitigate. Reports incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
