Bureau Veritas Angola, a leading service provider in the Oil & Gas sector, reporting to Fuels  Manager, Central Africa. The position is based in Luanda - Angola.

In this position to perform independent inspection and measurement of petroleum and petrochemical products in accordance with approved company procedures, client requirements, and applicable international standards.The Inspector ensures the accuracy, integrity, and impartiality of all inspection results and contributes to the company’s compliance with standard requirements.

Identifies and assess key HSE risks at the workplace/work front. Actively participates in dialogue with the workforce and HSE team. Follows up and takes action on non-conformance to safety and quality issues. Applies the disciplinary procedure where required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline,
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in petroleum inspection, terminal operations, or cargo measurement,
  • Sound understanding of API, ASTM, IP, and other relevant international standards related to petroleum inspection,
  • Competence in the use of gauging, sampling, and measurement instruments (e.g., thermometers, tapes, density meters),
  • Knowledge of cargo documentation (e.g., Bill of Lading, Certificates of Quantity),
  • Ability to identify and manage potential conflicts of interest in inspection activities,
  • Ability to work independently and in a team under varying conditions and schedules,
  • Certification in Petroleum Inspection or Measurement (e.g. IFIA, or equivalent),
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders at all levels,
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Accountabilities and Responsabilities:

  • Conduct quantity inspections of crude oil, refined petroleum products, and petrochemicals at terminals, tanks, ships, vessels and pipelines,
  • Perform sampling, gauging, temperature measurement, and calculations to determine volumes, densities, and other relevant parameters,
  • Witness loading and discharge operations and ensure that procedures meet contractual and safety requirements,
  • Verify product specifications through field testing as applicable,
  • Accurately record all field data, observations, and results on company-approved forms or digital systems,
  • Prepare inspection reports and support documentation in accordance with standard operating principles of traceability and impartiality,
  • Ensure timely submission of inspection results to operations coordinator and manager,
  • Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing, and corrective action implementation as required,
  • Ensure all inspection and measuring equipment is properly maintained and verified before use,
  • Carry out all inspection activities in compliance with company quality procedures, health, safety, and environmental policies and ISO/IEC 17020 requirements,
  • Report any deviations, non-conformities, or conflicts of interest to the operations Coordinator.
