About the role
We are seeking an experienced Operations & Business Support Manager to join our M&O Pacific senior management team. Reporting directly to the M&O Pacific Director, you will manage a cross-functional team while serving as strategic adviser to our Marine Classification, Rules and Regulatory Advisory team, driving operational excellence, enabling informed decision-making, and leading cross-functional initiatives across the region.
This position is critical to the operational and strategic success of M&O Pacific. You will enable senior leadership to focus on business growth and client relationships while ensuring organisational excellence, regulatory compliance, and cultural alignment across operations.
The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with operational excellence. You possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to manage complex support functions in matrix environments. Your proactive problem-solving approach, coupled with your talent for coordinating across multiple business units and translating challenges into actionable strategies, enables you to drive cross-functional collaboration and deliver results in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executive Support & Leadership Enablement: Lead a cross-functional support team that enables M&O Pacific senior management team to focus on strategic priorities and client relationships. Develop your team's capabilities and foster a culture of ownership and accountability. Serve as a trusted strategic adviser by anticipating needs, solving problems, and translating executive priorities into operational reality through proactive scheduling, meeting management, and strategic information sharing.
- Operations Management: Analyse and optimise organisational processes to deliver measurable improvements in quality, productivity, and efficiency. Develop and implement scalable standard operating procedures (SOPs) that enable teams to work smarter, not just harder. Monitor operational KPIs and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement and process innovation.
- Governance, Compliance & Risk Management: Embed BV Absolutes (Ethics, Safety, Financial Control) into everyday business operations as the M&O Pacific Compliance lead. Balance regulatory requirements with operational pragmatism. Support internal and external audits, develop robust compliance frameworks, and champion a culture where compliance enables rather than constrains business growth.
- Commercial Operations & Sales Support: Streamline and strengthen commercial processes from sales pipeline management through quoting, documentation, and record keeping. Work collaboratively with Head Office, Area, and Functional staff to align commercial operations with marketing, events, and external communications. Enable efficient and effective sales operations that support business growth.
- Internal Communications & Strategic Execution: Shape and execute strategic communications that drive alignment on business priorities, compliance requirements, and cultural initiatives. Lead cross-functional project management to execute management’s strategic initiatives with pace and clarity.
- Financial Operations: Partner with M&O Pacific Business Controller to monitor financial operations, ensuring Business Units meet respective financial KPIs, support budget planning, forecasting and spend analysis, provide commercial insights to Directors for strategic decision-making.
- People & Culture Leadership: Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Shared Service teams to champion People and Culture strategies including recruitment, onboarding, engagement and retention initiatives that attract and develop talent aligned to BV Values and operational requirements. Partner with HR and Shared Services on succession planning and organisational development to strengthen leadership capability across the region.
- Support Function Oversight: Coordinate and optimise Sales & Marketing, Finance, Legal & Risk, Security, IT, HR and Communications functions in partnership with Shared Services to support business operations and compliance requirements.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 7-10 years' experience in operations management, business administration, or strategic advisory roles, with demonstrated team leadership experience.
- Qualification in Business Administration, Management or Finance.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire a cross-functional team, fostering a culture focused on innovation, collaboration and collegiality across M&O Pacific.
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and governance requirements, and a strategic ability to manage compliant operations.
- Strong financial acumen and demonstrated experience in managing financial operations, budgets and forecasting processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing operational priorities in partnership with support functions or in shared services environments.
- Ability to develop proven and robust organisational systems using judgment and initiative to action issues without deferring to others.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing internal communications strategies that align organisational messaging on business priorities, compliance requirements and cultural initiatives.
- Excellent ability to build and maintain effective and productive stakeholder relationships.
- Advanced MS Suite skills (Sharepoint, Word, Outlook and Excel).
- Experience in procurement functions including asset and office management.
- Highly confidential and sensitive information management with discretion, tact and professionalism.

- Australian Citizenship
- Australian Government Security Clearance (or eligible to obtain)
- Pre-employment screening (AS 4811:2020)
- Must be able to work from an Adelaide, 5000, Bureau Veritas office
