The Opportunity  

We are expanding our Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) surveillance capability to support Mining and Metals projects across various locations throughout Australia. This is ad‑hoc, project-based work, with assignments offered on an as‑needed basis.

We’re seeking experienced and detail-oriented SMP Quality Control (QC) Inspectors to join our clients’ project teams, supporting a range of well-known industry partners. This role plays a key part in ensuring quality and compliance across structural, welding, and surface treatment scopes.

 

Key Responsibilities  

In this role, you will :

  • Provide onsite surveillance verification of contractors works,
  • Act as part of the owner’s team, reporting to client project leads.
  • Maintain detailed site surveillance reports, including photographic and written documentation, to verify work completion and quality.
  • Provide real-time feedback on construction quality and issues to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Support Owner Project Leads and Managers to ensure effective project delivery while taking responsibility for day-to-day surveillance of assigned project elements.

 

About You  

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant engineering or trade qualifications, with a minimum of 5 years' industry experience, including at least 3 years in a QA/QC role on construction projects.
  • Hold current Welding and Surface Treatment Inspection Qualifications.
  • Proven experience performing Inspections on behalf of the Client.
  • Experience in the review of Contractor Quality Documents (ITPs, ITRs, MDRs etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, construction codes, and standards such as ISO, AS/NZS, ASME etc.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality assurance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across client and contractor teams.
  • Experience with Construction and Completion Management Systems (CMS) software is highly regarded.
