The Role:


We are seeking applicants for the position of a Laboratory Manager in Blackwater. The position will be working closely with Business Unit Manager to manage the operation, ensuring that the business performs at an optimal level to exceed our customers’ expectations.

 

In the role you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Day to day operations
  • Monthly costings and invoicing
  • Maintain consumable stock levels
  • Perform Equipment maintenance and Calibrations
  • Conduct QHSE training and toolbox talks as required
  • Coordinate and manage the workflow, meeting customers’ expectations
  • Plan, write and deliver training programs for employees, trainees and lower technical levels
  • Perform and supervise a range of routine test work within set guidelines and priorities
  • Be the main liaison with existing clients to ensure client expectations are maintained
  • Supervise and lead a team.
  • Maintain/update work/accommodation rosters
  • Support and drive the team to achieve daily production targets. 
  • Support and assist in on-the-job training of your team. 
  • Assist in reviewing processes to improve safety, quality, and productivity. 
  • Assist with Non-conformance processing and Root Cause analysis.
  • Perform internal audits

 

 

 To be successful in this position you will have: 

  • In depth knowledge of ISO 17025
  • A good working knowledge of laboratory procedures & sampling techniques.
  • Understanding and implementation of quality control / assurance procedures.
  • Understanding and implementation of occupational, health, safety and environmental principles and procedures.
  • Ability to manage a large number of staff in the daily operation of a mining laboratory environment.
  • Proactively manage staff in a ‘hands on’ manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize structured competency-based training programs
  • Able to work unsupervised either individually or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, in accordance with manager’s general work priority guidelines.
  • Ability to motivate others to achieve desired outcomes.
