About the Role
Access Consultant (Assistant - Senior)
We are seeking an Access Consultant to join our growing Accessibility team, open to Assistant through to Senior level, based in Brisbane.
This role will see you working on major public realm and infrastructure projects, including transport precincts, pathways, cycleways, healthcare facilities and Olympic‑related developments, with a strong focus on universal design and inclusive outcomes.
You will manage and maintain technical access consulting processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation while balancing practical, user‑focused design outcomes. This role suits someone who combines technical precision with empathy, and who understands accessibility from the perspective of how people actually move through and experience places.
• Assess project documentation and liaise with clients, providing recommendations for compliance with the NCC, relevant Australian Access Standards
• Where compliance is not achievable, advise on performance solutions and alternative compliance pathways
• Undertake technical compliance reviews of project designs, desktop reviews and on‑site inspections nationally
• Conduct DDA compliance audits of existing buildings, workplaces and public environments
• Prepare clear and detailed technical reports outlining compliance requirements and recommendations
• Prepare Access Management Plans and Room Designation Strategies
• Manage project delivery including client meetings, site inspections and stakeholder engagement
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation across job files and internal systems
• Ensure all communication with clients and authorities is professional, proactive and courteous
• Meet individual monthly invoicing targets and ensure invoices are issued in line with client requirements
• Support business development through strong client relationships and high‑quality service delivery
What We Are Looking For
• Experience in access consulting, with exposure to public realm, transport, infrastructure or healthcare projects highly regarded
• Background in architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, occupational therapy, building surveying or similar
• Strong understanding of accessibility from both a technical and user‑centred perspective
• High attention to detail and ability to review documentation accurately and efficiently
• Confidence engaging with clients, consultants, authorities and project stakeholders
• Professional, empathetic communicator with strong client relationship skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a national team
• Demonstrated initiative and commitment to improving processes and outcomes
• Willingness to undertake site inspections and project travel as required
