The Opportunity

 

This role offers the chance to contribute to a high‑performing federal government program by providing expert financial management, analysis and advice. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, supporting decision‑making and strengthening financial performance across a complex operating environment.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Managing financial activities in line with Commonwealth frameworks and policies
  • Providing accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
  • Advising stakeholders on financial risks, compliance and performance
  • Ensuring alignment with the PGPA Act, AAIs, CPRs and related policies
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and high‑quality financial governance
  • Engaging collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including Defence where required

 

 

About You

 

You are an experienced financial management professional with strong knowledge of Commonwealth financial frameworks and a proven ability to deliver accurate, reliable financial advice in a fast‑paced environment. You work well in high‑performing teams, communicate clearly and bring a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.

 

You bring:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business, or 7+ years’ Commonwealth financial management experience
  • Strong understanding of the PGPA Act, AAIs, CPRs and Commonwealth financial policies
  • Experience providing financial advice and managing complex financial activities
  • A collaborative, detail‑focused and proactive working style
  • CPA qualification (highly regarded)
  • Experience with Defence environments and systems such as SAP, IBRS or Project Central (highly desirable)
  • Familiarity with Safe Agile processes (desirable)
