About Bureau Veritas:

Bureau Veritas Australia – Marine and Offshore division is seeking a Senior Engineer to contribute to the growth of our Seaworthiness and Regulatory Advisory business.

 

 

Overview:

 

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Seaworthiness Regulatory Framework for our client. This framework will represent a contemporary and fit-for-purpose approach to seaworthiness regulation, supporting Australia's sovereign interests into the future. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a talented engineer with a strong foundation in engineering principles to transition into the domain of regulatory framework development and management. You will contribute to the drafting of new policy, regulations and procedures for seaworthiness; draft acceptable means of compliance and guidance material; and also assist the regulated community with the development of compliance submissions, permits and approvals on behalf of the seaworthiness regulator.

 

Responsibilities

 

    • Contribute to the drafting of the policy, regulations, and procedures for seaworthiness.
    • Support the development of guidance material and acceptable means of compliance for the seaworthiness regulations and framework.
    • Assist the regulated community with the development of compliance submissions, permits and approvals on behalf of the seaworthiness regulator.
    • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
    • Coordinate with the Senior Engineer to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and project objectives, including leadership, risk management, compliance, accountability, and transparency
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop engineering solutions.
    • Review engineering documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Participate in meetings with stakeholders and provide engineering insights as needed.
    • Support the implementation of engineering policies and procedures to enhance project efficiency.
    • Contribute to the development of technical reports and documentation.
    • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and recommending corrective actions to resolve them.
    • Keep abreast of industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement initiatives.

 

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

 

    • Bachelor qualification in marine engineering, or related discipline, and relevant industry experience.
    • 3+ years of experience working in the maritime engineering or a regulatory field.
    • Must hold on commencement an Australian Government Security clearance.
    • Familiarity with work health and safety and environmental compliance.
    • Knowledge of Australian and International maritime conventions and laws, and/or the Defence regulatory environment/s.
    • Considerable analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes knowledge sharing and teamwork.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
