The Opportunity
Bureau Veritas is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our Central Weighing team in a dynamic testing and inspection environment. In this role, you’ll prepare samples with precision and accuracy for XRF, Spectral and wet chemistry analysis, playing a vital part in delivering quality results to our clients. You’ll work collaboratively with a supportive team while maintaining the highest standards of laboratory housekeeping, safety and quality control. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and weigh samples accurately and timely according to priority directives, ensuring all Central Weighing procedures are followed and quality benchmarks are consistently met
- Maintain exceptional laboratory housekeeping standard, including keeping work area’s clean and tidy, managing spillages promptly and removing unnecessary items at the end of each shift.
- Identify and report hazards, quality issues and faulty equipment immediately to your supervisor; actively participate in safety audits, inspections and quality reviews to support zero-accident workplace culture
- Utilise time affectively to optimise productivity while ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded, completing assigned tasks on or before schedule and notifying your supervisor of any sample or analysis issues.
- Comply with all Health, Safety Environment (HSE), quality, and operational policies and procedures; participate in HSE training, toolbox talks and quality meetings as required.
About you
- You have a strong interest in laboratory and scientific work, with the ability to follow detailed procedures consistently and work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
- You’re a motivated, self-organised team player with excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow directives from supervisors and managers
- You possess basic mathematical skills and are able to read and write English fluently; laboratory experience or knowledge of the testing and inspection industry is highly desirable
- You’re committed to safety and quality excellence, with a proactive approach to identifying hazards, implementing preventative actions, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- You demonstrate reliability, strong time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet production timelines and client requirements.
