Who you are?

Due to an increase in work we have a great opportunity for an experienced Quality Control Chemist who is excited by the variety this role offers. As a QC Chemist in the Geo-Analytical Lab, you will play a crucial role in the analysis of mineral samples using ICP MS/OES /AAS and or X-ray fluorescence (XRF) techniques.

 

You will be based in Kalgoorlie and will be responsible for operating and maintaining instruments, conducting tests, interpreting data, and providing accurate analytical reports to clients. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the field of Geo-analytical testing and gain hands-on experience with analytical equipment.

Some of your tasks may be:

  • Assessing data obtained from ICP/XRF/AAS instrumentation
  • Initiating corrective actions.
  • Finalising data from ICP/XRF/AAS instrumentation
  • Aiding in the instrument operation when required
  • Perform analysis of samples using ICP/XRF/AAS techniques according to established procedures and protocols.
  • Operate and maintain ICP/XRF/AAS instruments, ensuring accurate and precise measurements.
  • Conduct quality control checks, troubleshoot issues, and calibrate instruments as required.
  • Interpret analytical data and prepare comprehensive reports for clients.
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and new analytical techniques.

 

What will you bring to the role?

  • A formal qualification in Chemistry, such as a Bachelor of Science.
  • Previous experience with ICP-MS, ICP-OES, AAS instrument operation is essential and/or previous experience in operating XRF instruments and analysing samples.
  • Experience with data calculation and QAQC of results is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with mineral processing principles and techniques.
  • Computer literacy skills, preferably with a laboratory LIMS.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong Communication and Leadership Skills.

 

Roster 

  • Shift work including  weekend work .
