The Opportunity
Join our Defence and Security team as an Assistant Project Manager to support the construction delivery of a major redevelopment in Port Melbourne. Working under the guidance of an experienced Senior Project team, you will act as a key link between the Commonwealth and industry partners to ensure project transparency and governance. Your focus will be on monitoring on-site progress, managing risks, and reviewing performance to keep the project on schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional to grow their skills in a supported environment while delivering critical infrastructure for the Commonwealth. This role is a 12 month fixed term role, with potential to extend dependent on project pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Managing Contractor invoices and PMCA invoices
- Help prepare PCG packs, monthly review sheets, and other reporting documents
- Support all project finance activities - budgeting, forecasting, tracking spends, and updating registers
- Assist with contract administration, including variations, correspondence, and document control
- Keep project records organised and up to date
- Coordinate with consultants and contractors to gather information for reports and approvals
- Help monitor risks, schedules, and deliverables across the project
- Provide general support to me as the PMCA lead across day‑to‑day project tasks.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business, Engineering, Construction Management).
- Familiarity with project management methodologies such as PMBOK, PRINCE2, or Agile.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- A current Baseline or NV1 Security Clearance (or ability to maintain one).
