The role:
Due to a strong pipeline of upcoming work, McKenzie Group Consulting is seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Melbourne office.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing and maintaining technical processes to assess and review projects, while supporting Managers across various stages of delivery. You’ll also oversee the operational management of QHSE systems and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and governing bodies.

Key Accountabilities:
- Assessing project documentation and liaising with clients, making recommendation for compliance with the Building Act and Regulation and Building Code of Australia
- To facilitate the issuance of building permits in a fast, courteous and efficient manner. Where compliance is not possible, to advise on modification or performance variations to procedures and the investigation of alternative avenues for resolution.
- Providing documentation management including ensuring that job files and other office systems are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensuring communication with authorities and councils via notification of requests for information is timely and accurate at all times.
- Preparation of technical reports overviewing compliance requirements and recommendations for projects.

What’s needed?
Ideally you will have previous experience and the following skillsets:
- Successful completion or undertaking of relevant University degree, or any equivalent of formal qualifications studied locally or from an internationally recognised organisation.
- Accreditation/ progression of attaining accreditation license within state requirements.
- Maintain minimum CPD requirements in accordance with relevant state and national accreditation bodies
- Ability to check documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complete tasks for jobs as assigned or initiated in consultation and approval from Senior Building Surveyor.
- Manage time to effectively and efficiently accommodate client requests and internal workload delegation.
- The ability to work independently and to communicate clearly with clients, management team, office team members, colleagues and consultants.
