The role:

Bureau Veritas is seeking an Assistant Manager for its Muswellbrook Testing facility. The facilities provide sampling and testing services for our coal mining clients in relation to their coal production, shipping and exploration initiatives.

 

Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day operations of the laboratory ensuring high quality service to our customers. The focus of your role will be supervising the Preparation and Laboratory teams but you will also be responsible for:

  • Scheduling work to ensure client requirements are met in terms of timeliness and quality
  • Ensuring safety, quality and reporting requirements are fully satisfied
  • Supervision, coaching and training of a team of laboratory staff
  • Providing technical and administrative support to the Business Unit Manager

 

This role is offered on a residential in Muswellbrook basis and will not be FIFO.

 

What’s needed?

Ideally you will have previous experience and the following skillsets:

  • Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role of a team of people.
  • Training skills.
  • Organisational skills
  • Positive Attitude
  • Ability to assume responsibility

It is desirable to have:

  • Experience with coal sampling, laboratory and analysis procedures
  • Supervisory experience preferably in a laboratory environment
  • Working knowledge of laboratory tests.

Education Requirements:

  • Higher School Certificate and at least 2-4 years’ experience, or Associate Diploma in Applied Science, Chemistry (or equivalent).
  • Degree in Chemistry is desirable

 

Roster

The position is a salaried Monday to Friday position, with flexible working hours. A reasonable amount of overtime to ensure smooth operation for the business is expected as part of this package.
