The role:
We have a unique opportunity for a Chemist looking to change your focus. Working with other experienced Chemists and Managers in our laboratory, you will gain great industry exposure, performing routine laboratory analysis along with the electronic reporting of results. Working in a fast turnaround laboratory there is a focus on analytical testing of coal and mineral samples involving chemical and instrumental techniques and troubleshooting.
A knowledge and interest in ICP and XRF analysis in coal and minerals will also be highly desirable as it will give you a great appreciation for the application and importance of the work you undertake.
This role is based in Newcastle, NSW and will require you to live in this location.
As a Chemist, some of your tasks will be, but not limited to:
- A couple of years experience working as a Chemist
- Experience working with a range of coal and minerals samples involving chemical and instrumental techniques following ISO and ASTM procedures is beneficial
- Adhere to manual handling procedures.
- Logistics management (equipment and samples)
- Comply with the Safety and Quality policies and programs
- Data entry and Record keeping
What’s needed?
Ideally you will have previous experience and the following skillsets:
- Completion of Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry
- Knowledge of Laboratory methods associated with the coal industry
- Knowledge of NATA and ISO quality systems would be highly regarded.
- Safety conscious
- Experience in a Laboratory applying chemistry and technical knowledge and use of scientific instrumentation
- Good communication skills
