The role:

Opportunities exist for an experienced Senior Consultant Metallurgist who is responsible for the technical excellence of all the activities of the business within the Materials Science & Engineering group so as to achieve the quality, productivity, technical, OH&S and human resource objectives of the Company.

Responsible for suppling materials consultation services to industry.

Responsible for carrying out failure analysis investigations of plant and equipment and provide recommendations for corrective action.

Undertake detailed report writing of a quality that will meet and/or exceed client’s expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Ideally you will have previous experience and the following skillsets:

  • Undertake metallurgical consultancy and investigation work such that at all times quality and accurate technical content is achieved
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to optimise service performance and ensure deliverables are meet within defined timeframes
  • Assist and mentor staff in the Materials Science and Engineering Group
  • Compile detail reports and provide corrective actions where possible
  • An understanding and commitment to HSE
  • Comply with quality policies and programs, escalating any concerns as required

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Industry experience in corrosion, welding, mechanical testing is required
  • Experience investigating equipment failures and can undertake metallurgical root cause failure analyses
  • An understanding of RCM, RCS and FMEA principals is desirable
  • Great time management skills
  • Strong customer focus and ability to develop working relationships with customers
