The Opportunity  

Based at our Newcastle office, this role presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Materials Engineer to help develop and strengthen our engineering and support services presence in the region. You will collaborate closely with Bureau Veritas’s key East Coast clients across mining, transport, OEMs, manufacturing and fabrication sectors.

 

You will be joining an established, highly experienced team that has earned a reputation as a leading consultancy and preferred supplier to industry. This is a chance to contribute to meaningful work while growing your technical and client-facing capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Conduct metallurgical testing and root cause failure analysis investigations.
  • Provide technical support and consultancy to clients across mining, manufacturing, power and transport industries.
  • Work autonomously and be hands-on when required, including practical testing and on-site work.
  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports with clear analysis and recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring strong customer service and relationship management.

 

About You  

You are an experienced Materials Engineer or Metallurgist with at least 7 years of industry experience, ideally within heavy industry. You’re someone who can operate independently, enjoys hands on work when needed, and brings excellent communication and report writing skills.

You will also bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in metallurgy, materials engineering or materials science.
  • Strong analytical capability and a process focused mindset.
  • Proven experience in failure analysis and metallurgical investigations.
  • Industry experience from mining (preferred), or manufacturing, power or transport sectors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships.
  • High proficiency in producing detailed, accurate technical reports.
