Bureau Veritas in Australia is an organization of over 180 engineers and skilled technicians, expert in the provision of all aspects of quality controlled inspection, risk based assessment testing,  condition monitoring and asset management of plant and equipment.


Although boasting a national operations footprint, headquarters for the Bureau Veritas Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) Group is in Newcastle, and comprises a dedicated team of Metallurgists, Materials Scientists and Engineers who provide specialized expertise analysing the conditions and causes responsible for the failure of industrial plant and equipment when they occur.

 

 

About the Role:


Working from either the Newcastle office or newly established office/lab/workshop facility in Wollongong, this will be an opportunity for the newly appointed senior materials engineer to develop a leading engineering and support services presence in the region.  He/She will work closely with Bureau Veritas’s key clients on the East Coast – ranging from those in the mining and transport industry to OEM’s, manufacturers and fabricators.  

 

Throughout this exciting journey, the senior materials engineer in Newcastle/Wollongong will be supported by an already highly experienced team, who over the years have grown to become a leading consultancy and preferred supplier to industry.


You are an experienced materials engineer (or metallurgist) having spent a min. of 7 years working in heavy industry, an individual who can work autonomously, is prepared to roll-up their sleeves and be hands-on when required and who possess very good communication and report writing skills. 

 


Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

⦁    As a minimum requirement for this role, you will need tertiary qualifications in metallurgy, materials engineering or

      materials science.
⦁    7+ years of industry experience 
⦁    You will have analytical strengths.
⦁    Be able to communicate confidently at all levels.
⦁    Process and procedure focused.
⦁    Highly skilled in report writing.

 


Required Experience:

 

⦁    Undertaking metallurgical testing and root cause failure analysis investigations.
⦁    Experience predominantly gained from working in the mining sector, but will also consider those with experienced

     gained from working in the manufacturing, power and transport industries. 
⦁    Proven customer service instincts and interpersonal relationship skills.
