The role:

Bureau Veritas currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Risk and Safety Engineer to join our Brisbane Office. We are looking for someone who is personable and builds great relationships with clients.

 

Essential Experience Developing and writing a "Safety Case" 

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Safety Case Development:

 

    • Undertaking formal safety assessment studies and calculations including hazard identification, quantitative risk analysis; FEA, escape, temporary refuge, evacuation and rescue analysis; emergency system survivability analysis; ALARP studies; pipeline risk assessment
    • Preparing facility descriptions, safety management system descriptions, bridging documents and SIMOPs plans.
    • Preparing safety procedures such as Permit to Work procedures, emergency response plans and integrated management system documents.
    • Conducting ad-hoc risk and safety studies and preparing reports and technical notes. 

 

Safety Workshop:

 

    • Preparing, leading or scribing HAZIDS, HAZOPS and ALARP workshops involving direct liaison with Clients and workshops participants.
    • Preparing timely workshops reports to meet Client requirements.

 

 

Educational Requirements:

 

    • Mandatory: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred)
    • Desirable: Post Graduate qualifications in Safety and Risk Engineering

 

Required Experience:

 

    • Experience in safety and risk engineering, preferably Oil & Gas
