Bureau Veritas supports asset owners and operators to manage integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance across critical industrial infrastructure. Our expertise spans tanks, pressure equipment, piping, and hazardous facilities throughout the full asset lifecycle—helping clients manage risk and extend asset life with confidence.
The Opportunity
You will provide specialist risk and safety engineering services for onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities. This role requires strong technical capability and regulatory knowledge, with the ability to independently deliver studies, audits, and safety case documentation in line with Australian regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate risk studies including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie, QRA, and ALARP demonstrations
- Independently perform Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), including modelling, analysis, and reporting
- Develop, revise, and update Safety Cases, including preparation of addendums and revisions for regulatory submission
- Conduct Major Hazard Facility (MHF) audits, compliance reviews, and gap assessments
- Support MHF Safety Reports and regulatory engagement activities
- Provide technical input and compliance support for NOPSEMA requirements and offshore Safety Cases
- Interface with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders professionally and effectively
- Prepare high-quality technical reports and deliverables
- Support proposal development and business development activities as required
About You
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or related discipline)
- Strong experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably within Australia
- Demonstrated experience with MHF regulations, including auditing and compliance activities
- Solid understanding of NOPSEMA regulations and offshore safety case requirements
- Proven ability to:
- Develop and revise Safety Cases and Safety Reports
- Prepare Safety Case addendums
- Conduct independent QRA studies
- Facilitate HAZID workshops
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards chartership
- Experience with offshore production facilities
- Prior consulting or technical advisory experience
