The Opportunity

 

This is a rare opportunity to step into a lead technical role supporting major utility‑scale renewable energy projects across Australia. As a trusted Owner’s Engineer (OE), you will be seconded directly to clients, acting as their day‑to‑day engineering advisor on large‑scale solar and BESS developments. You’ll guide critical engineering decisions, ensure technical excellence, and help navigate complex permitting, design, and grid‑connection processes. Backed by a strong multidisciplinary team, you’ll take the lead while still enjoying the support of specialists across key engineering disciplines. This role suits an influential engineer who thrives in a client‑facing environment and wants to make a measurable impact in the transition to clean energy.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide expert technical leadership across Solar PV, BESS and Balance of Plant (BoP) design and delivery
  • Lead engineering support as an Owner’s Engineer on 1–2 major renewable projects at a time
  • Review and develop tender documentation, design packages and project specifications
  • Conduct technical assessments and contribute to high‑quality red‑flag and TDD reporting
  • Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements, performance guarantees and warranty conditions
  • Support EPC, O&M and supply contract negotiations, ensuring robust technical outcomes
  • Manage OEM and vendor engagement to maintain quality, schedule and delivery standards
  • Guide clients through the grid connection process across the NEM and SWIS regions

 

 

About You

 

  • Degree‑qualified Electrical Engineer 
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience delivering utility‑scale renewable projects in Australia
  • Proven success acting as an Owner’s Engineer with deep understanding of project risk and lifecycle
  • High‑level knowledge of planning permits, development approvals and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong client engagement and stakeholder communication skills, with professional presence
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high‑fidelity technical reports and documentation
  • Recognised accreditation (NER, RPEQ, RPEV, CPEng) highly desirable
  • Advantageous if you bring established industry relationships
