Marine and Offshore
Bureau Veritas Australia – Marine and Offshore division is seeking an Marine Engineer / Naval Architect to contribute to the growth of our Naval Classification business.
The Opportunity
The Incumbent will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of a Australian Naval Classification Framework, supporting Australia's sovereign interests into the future. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a talented Naval Architect / Marine Engineer with a strong foundation in engineering principles to transition into the domain of regulatory framework development and management. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of Naval Classification Rules and applying the new Naval Classification Framework.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Candidates must hold an active AGVSA clearance on application to be considered.
Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the drafting of the Australian Naval Classification Rules, processes and procedures for Australian Naval Classification

Support the assessment of Australian Naval Classification Basis.

Demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Coordinate with the ANC Rules Lead to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and project objectives, including leadership, risk management, compliance, accountability, and transparency

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop engineering solutions.

Review engineering documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Participate in meetings with stakeholders and provide engineering insights as needed.

Support the implementation of engineering policies and procedures to enhance project efficiency.

Contribute to the development of technical reports and documentation as required.

Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and recommending corrective actions to resolve them.

Keep abreast of industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
-
Bachelor qualification in marine engineering, naval architecture or related discipline, and relevant industry experience.

8+ years of experience working in the maritime engineering or a regulatory field.

Must hold on commencement an Australian Government Security clearance.

Familiarity with work health and safety and environmental compliance.

Knowledge of Australian and International maritime conventions and laws, and/or the Defence regulatory environment/s.

Considerable analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes knowledge sharing and teamwork.

Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
