Bureau Veritas Australia – Marine and Offshore division is seeking a Senior Engineer / Regulatory Specialist for our Seaworthiness team
Overview:
This role is focused on driving the delivery of the seaworthiness regulatory framework and facilitated implementation of this new framework . You will leverage your significant regulatory, operational and technical expertise to draft documents, publications and artefacts for seaworthiness. You will also be responsible for reviewing the regulations, working with regulated entities, and the drafting of compliance submissions, permits and approvals on behalf of the seaworthiness regulator.
Location:
This role will be located at our any of our capital city offices, preference for Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra or Perth. Remote work arrangements within Australia will also be considered for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Draft documents, publications and artefacts to support rollout of the new seaworthiness regulatory program
- Review seaworthiness policy and regulations, and engage with regulated entities
- Draft compliance submissions, permits and approvals on behalf of the seaworthiness regulator
- Conduct technical reviews and assessments to identify risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement in the project deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and develop project plans and schedules.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss technical aspects of the project and address any concerns or questions.
- Demonstrate a strong background in Defence or maritime regulatory environments and understanding of vessel operations and a proven track record of success.
- Mentor and guide staff to leverage their analytical skills and attention to detail in supporting the development of the governance, regulations, and framework for seaworthiness
- Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies to inform decision-making and support innovation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
What is needed:
- Bachelor qualification in relevant discipline, and considerable industry experience.
- Chartered Engineer status with relevant recognised engineering institute desirable
- 5+ years of experience in Defence or maritime regulatory environment, vessel operations, or an equivalent discipline.
- Strong expertise in work, health and safety and environmental compliance
- Strong knowledge of Australian and International maritime conventions and laws, and/or the Defence regulatory environment/s
- Must hold on commencement an Australian Government Security clearance.
- Candidates must hold an active AGVSA clearance on application to be considered.
