The Opportunity
The Marine & Offshore Pacific Strategy & Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving Bureau Veritas's growth and strategic positioning across the Pacific region. This position combines commercial leadership, operational excellence, and technical expertise to advance Bureau Veritas's mission of enhancing maritime standards with integrity.
The main responsibilities are to:
- Drive the Bureau Veritas M&O Pacific strategy, aligning with the strategies of both M&O Asia Pacific Area (APA) and Head Office Commercial Team
- Identify growth opportunities to meet the strategic plan of Bureau Veritas M&O Pacific
- Drive Profit & Loss (P&L) performance of Advisory Business across Australia, New Zealand, and the wider Pacific region
- Monitor operational, financial, and commercial performance and continue to elevate client experience
- Maintain strong relationships with the relevant stakeholders (internal and external) to build trust and identify opportunities for shared success in conjunction with the Director
- In conjunction with the Director work to meet and exceed Revenue and Operational Profit targets in line with Budget
- Lead and manage the M&O Pacific Advisory business unit, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and team leadership to ensure effective execution of business objectives
- Manage key projects and initiatives that support business growth, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment across the Pacific region
- Interact with the M&O APA team to present service improvement opportunities and motivate the operational team to enhance service levels to be Best in Class
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent discipline
- 10+ years' experience in multi-discipline roles spanning Sales, Strategy, Project Management, or Maritime/Defence sectors
- Hold or be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance (AGVSA) on application
- Strong experience working within an international organisation, including experience within reporting and governance frameworks and protocols
- Exceptional client account management and/or sales experience
- National police clearance (will be required as part of BV onboarding process)
- 15+ years of proven experience in business development and project management for complex multi-discipline projects
- Successful track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, exceeding expectations and adhering to all regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams in technically demanding environments, fostering collaboration and optimising productivity
- Extensive knowledge of the marine and naval environment and best practices
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and technical systems relevant to Bureau Veritas's technical services
- Proven ability to understand and respond to evolving marine industry trends, client challenges, and regulatory developments, translating market intelligence into competitive advantage and service innovation
- Success in employing Key Account Management methodology
- Familiarity with Australian and International maritime conventions, laws, and the Defence regulatory environment
