The Opportunity
We have a dynamic opportunity for a 2IC Sample Preparation to join our team within the Bureau Veritas Minerals Laboratory at Wingfield facility in Adelaide.
The purpose of the 2IC of Sample Preparation role is to ensure that a safe environment is provided for your team to meet high performance targets and report to key stakeholders in a timely fashion. You will be excited by driving cultural change, tracking performance and ensuring process improvement within the safety guidelines and ensure both short term and long-term objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities
Ideally you will have previous experience and the following skillsets:
- Work to Bureau Veritas QHSE standards.
- Supervise and lead a team.
- Interview prospective candidates
- Coordinate and schedule the movement of inwards and outwards Samples.
- Support and drive the team to achieve daily production targets.
- Support and assist in on-the-job training of your team.
- Assist in reviewing processes to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ensure procedures are followed and quality standards met.
- Good analytical skills to make safe and sound judgements.
About You
- A good working knowledge of sample preparation laboratory procedures & sampling techniques or production supervision/management experience.
- Understanding and implementation of quality control / assurance procedures.
- Understanding and implementation of occupational, health, safety and environmental principles and procedures.
- Ability to manage a large number of staff in the daily operation of a mining laboratory environment.
- Proactively manage staff in a ‘hands on’ manner.
- Demonstrated ability to organize structured competency-based training programs.
- Proven organisational skills.
- LIMS experience is preferred to achieve optimum production output.
- Ability to prioritize work, in accordance with manager’s general work priority guidelines.
- Ability to motivate others to achieve desired outcomes.
Roster
- Monday to Friday - 8 hour shifts
- Some weekends and overtime may be required
