The Opportunity
We have a great opportunity for a Chief Chemist who is excited by the variety this role offers. As a Chief Chemist in the Geo-Analytical Laboratory, you will play a crucial role in managing the analytical department, researching and
developing techniques and performing analytical work as directed. Also responsible for maintaining profitability within the department.
About You
Ideally you will have previous experience and the following skillsets:
- Strong knowledge an experience in mineral testing including method development and validation.
- Comply with HSE guidelines and programs
- Adhere to safety guidelines and initiate corrective actions when required.
- Experience leading a diverse team in a scientific environment.
- Prioritise production to ensure timeframes are achieved.
- Comply with quality programs and guidelines and escalate if there any concerns in meeting these guidelines
- Actively participate in meetings and audits
- Conduct quality control checks, troubleshoot issues, and calibrate instruments as required.
- Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
- Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and new analytical techniques.
What will you bring to the role?
- A formal qualification in Chemistry, such as a Bachelor of Science is necessary
- 10+ Years Experience in a minerals laboratory is preferred
- Experience leading a team is required
- Knowledge and troubleshooting ability with Scientific Instrumentation – ICPMS, ICPOES, XRF, LECO.
- Experience with QA/QC procedures and calculations
- High Knowledge of NATA 17025 accreditation.
- Experience with method development and validation.
- A strong safety mindset and experience with HSE training, toolbox talks and escalating safety concerns
- Customer focus to ensure samples are run on time and escalate concerns appropriately
- Familiarity with geoanalytical processing principles and techniques.
- Computer literacy skills is required
- Strong Communication and Leadership Skills
What is the roster:
- Monday to Friday roster – day shift
- Potential of OT and Weekend work may be needed at times
