Purpose of Position

  • To maintain, develop and deliver civil laboratory testing services in Bangladesh.
  • The position performs in line with Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including the BV code of Ethics and the BV group policy.

Major Responsibilities

  • To develop new civil testing lab as per relevant standard (ASTM, IS, BS, ISO and other international standards).
  • To perform the duties of lab manager in day-to-day operations of the laboratory as per ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Supervising the team to carry out laboratory testing as per relevant standard mentioned above.
  • Maintain the documentation required as per BV group and local requirement as well as accreditation bodies and ISO 17025 requirement.
  • Plan, implement and control the cost budget in the area of responsibility in cooperation with his superior and manage activities in case of deviations.
  • Build up client relations with major/potential clients.
  • Organize dedicated PR and marketing events foreseen in budget.
  • Ensure implementation of QMS and HSE in the area of responsibility as per corporate standards (e.g. code of ethics, BV values, corporate identity, policies, procedures).
  • Responsible for development of laboratory team for establish, implement and maintain QMS, EHS system as per ISO 17025-2017, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001 in order to get required accreditation and certification.
  • Responsible for implementation, maintenance and improvement of the management system, identification of deviations from the management system or from the procedure for performing laboratory activities, initiation of actions to prevent or minimize such deviation & reporting to lab management on the performance of the management system and any need for improvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of laboratory activities.
  • Responsible for development, modification, verification, and validation of methods.
  • Responsible for analysis of results including statement of conformity or opinion and interpretations.
  • Responsible for report, review and authorization of results.

Criteria for Performance Evaluation (KPIs)

  • Sales, revenue & other financials as per business plan
  • Client relationship – Retention and Growth.
  • Cost control
  • Compliance of internal and external guidelines, policies, procedures.
  • Account receivables and manage cash flow.
  • Internal and external customer service satisfaction (e.g. number of complaints)
  • Development and management of human resources

Qualification and Experience

  • B. Sc in Civil Engineering
  • Masters in Geotechnical Engineering will be  preferred.
  • with minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience.    
  • Certification of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is advantageous.
