ØPurpose of Position

  • The position is responsible overall operation of the Laboratory.
  • The position performs in line with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including the BV Code of Ethics and the BV Group policy

Ø Major Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility of the operation of the Coal Laboratory.
  • Acts as In-Charge of COAL Laboratory.
  • Responsible for Laboratory administration and documentation related to Laboratory.
  • Responsible for monitoring and implementation of QMS at COAL Laboratory, its reviewing, measurement and improvement to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Responsible to liaise with customers as their first point of contact with the laboratory.
  • Responsibility for receiving test items, review the Test Requisition Form along with samples, and logging samples into ILMS,
  • Responsibility for assigning testing activities to the relevant personnel based on their competencies and verify the test results and issue Test Reports.
  • Responsibility to identify the purchasing, calibration and AMC of Laboratory equipments and accessories.
  • Responsible to carryout quality assurance activities in the laboratory and maintain KPI . Responsible for taking part in Inter Laboratory Comparison/ Proficiency Testing/Round Robin programs and initiate corrective actions for outlier and questionable results.
  • Responsibility of training need identification of all the staffs of the laboratory, Conduct training and maintain training records.
  • Responsibility to take immediate action on any non-conforming work.
  • Responsible for test method verification for any new / revised standard test methods
  • Responsibility to ensure adequate resources available for operations.
  • Responsibility for customer feedback and attend customer complaints and resolve in-time.
  • Responsible to supervise laboratory sample disposal and maintain storage and disposal record in ILMS
  • Responsibility for performance checking of instruments of their specific area of activities
  • Responsible to demonstrate the competence of analysis as per the test method to external customers and Auditors
  • Responsibility to complete the test and  issue the test report as per the agreed TAT
  • Occasional travelling to customer places for Joint analysis.
  • Responsible to understand the basic process of sampling and sample preparation
  • Responsible to coordinate and analysis performance check sample (ILCT/PT etc.)
  • Responsible to analysis and control measure of the certified reference material (issuance, stock etc.)
  • Responsible for verification and maintenance of the Instrument used for analysis
  • Comply with local legal requirements as well as the applicable group HSE policies, procedures and their requirements
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves, their colleagues and others and promptly reporting any shortcomings (any unsafe work practice or condition and opportunities of HSE practices) to  the immediate manager
  • Understanding of BAB (ISO 17025) requirements

 

                                         

ØCriteria for Performance Evaluation (KPIs)

  • Ensure proper testing of samples and issue test reports within the TAT.
  • Ensure good performance of the instruments in use in the laboratory as per the BAB guidelines.
  • Impart timely training to Chemists & Lab Assistants.
  • Gather proper working knowledge of BAB (ISO 17025) standards
  • Adhering to HSE compliances and proper safety guidelines of the Laboratory.

 

 

 

Ø Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum Graduate in Science with Chemistry, preferably post-graduation in Chemistry.
  • Minimum 5 years of total experience in relevant field
