Mission & role

The Safety Engineer/officer will be responsible for monitoring the contractor's activities on-site, issuing safety notices, and conducting induction and other safety-related training. This role requires a hands-on approach, with the Safety Engineer being on foot throughout the day to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

 

Responsibilities

 

The specific duties include the following:

 

  1. Organization chart: Part of the H&S department of Heidelberg materials for MOKRA Modernization Project. Directly report and receive orders from the H&S Manager.
  2. On-Site Monitoring: Actively supervise the contractor's activities on the construction site to ensure adherence to Heidelberg materials standards, safety protocols, regulations and care of the environment. Participate in H&S meetings.
  3. Issue Safety Notices: Identify safety violations and issue notices or corrective actions to address any non-compliance. Give proposals for application of the Punch procedure in case of violations.
  4. Conduct Training: Lead safety induction training for new workers and ongoing safety training sessions for all site personnel.
  5. Risk Assessment: Check the risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.
  6. Incident Investigation: Support Investigations in case of any accidents or incidents to determine causes and recommend corrective actions.
  7. Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure continuous compliance with safety standards.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, work permit systems, training sessions, site and incident reports and all other safety related documentation.
  9. Emergency Response: Support development and implementation of the emergency response plans and conduct safety drills.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, engineering, construction management or related field will be considered as advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in safety engineering role within the heavy industrial construction and Cement plants will be considered as advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on foot for extended periods and perform physical inspections
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to take decisions.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools
  • Able to stay organized with detailed schedules, coordinated meetings, and efficient email management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including MS Suite.
  • Ability to work in international work environment.
  • Fluency in English
