Engineering and Interface Coordinator 


POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Engineering and Interface Coordinator. This role is essential for ensuring seamless coordination between engineering disciplines, project stakeholders, and operational teams throughout the project lifecycle. The position is based in Paris for a minimum 12-month assignment (renewable), supporting upstream oil & gas development in Mozambique.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Coordination & Interface Management

  • Act as the primary interface between multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, process, civil, structural, instrumentation & control)
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, design reviews, and technical documentation across all project phases (FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning)
  • Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and technical queries (TQs) throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain engineering master schedules and track design progress against milestones
  • Ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams
  • Facilitate weekly/bi-weekly engineering coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders

Technical Documentation & Data Management

  • Oversee engineering document management systems (DMS) and version control protocols
  • Ensure compliance with document standards, naming conventions, and filing procedures
  • Coordinate the preparation and distribution of engineering deliverables (P&IDs, GA drawings, calculations, specifications)
  • Manage engineering data packages for procurement and construction teams
  • Maintain engineering databases and project technical libraries
  • Ensure traceability of design decisions and design basis documentation

Design Integration & Quality Assurance

  • Coordinate design reviews (DRs) at various project stages
  • Ensure design compliance with project specifications, standards (API, ASME, ISO), and regulatory requirements
  • Track design review comments and ensure timely resolution and closure
  • Coordinate clash detection and 3D model integration (if applicable)
  • Support value engineering and optimization initiatives
  • Perform quality assurance checks on engineering deliverables

Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination

  • Interface with engineering contractors, EPC firms, and engineering service providers
  • Manage technical communication with equipment vendors and suppliers
  • Coordinate vendor technical submittals, datasheets, and performance guarantees
  • Ensure vendor compliance with project engineering standards
  • Facilitate technical meetings with third-party engineering consultants
  • Maintain vendor performance tracking and issue resolution logs

Procurement Interface

  • Coordinate engineering input for procurement packages and technical specifications
  • Support equipment selection and technical evaluation of supplier proposals
  • Provide engineering guidance on lead times, delivery schedules, and technical constraints
  • Ensure procurement specifications align with engineering design intent
  • Manage equipment technical queries and clarifications with vendors

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Coordinate engineering support during construction and installation phases
  • Manage as-built documentation and field change orders (FCOs)
  • Support commissioning planning and engineering sign-offs for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
  • Provide technical clarifications and engineering support to construction teams on-site
  • Coordinate handover documentation and operational manuals preparation
  • Ensure compliance with construction and commissioning procedures

Project Integration & Communication

  • Participate in project management meetings, steering committees, and progress reviews
  • Prepare engineering status reports and dashboards for project leadership
  • Coordinate with Project Controls for schedule and cost tracking related to engineering activities
  • Support HSE and Quality teams on technical compliance matters
  • Maintain effective communication channels between Paris office and Mozambique field operations
  • Prepare technical presentations for client and stakeholder meetings

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent professional registration preferred
  • Relevant certifications in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) or engineering coordination a plus
  • Proficiency in engineering software: CAD (AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar), P&ID tools, and project management software

Experience:

  • Minimum 8-12 years of engineering experience in upstream oil & gas projects (onshore or offshore)
  • Proven experience as an Engineering Coordinator, Interface Engineer, or similar coordination role in large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in FEED, detailed design, and construction phases of oil & gas facilities
  • Strong background in facilities engineering, production systems, or subsea/topsides design
  • Experience with EPC contract management and vendor coordination
  • Project experience in sub-Saharan Africa or similar emerging markets is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of Mozambique regulatory and operational context preferred
