POSITION PURPOSE

The Laboratory analyst will be assisting the laboratory team in conducting testing and other laboratory activities such as documentation, and implementation of quality control requirements. He/she will be signed tasks that support the goals, policies, and objectives of the laboratory. The Laboratory analyst will also participate in special projects related to field sampling, laboratory analysis and sample reception and storage activities.


 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Ensure safety protocols are adhered to all the time.
  • Support efficient lab operations by contributing to equipment maintenance, chemical inventory, and laboratory hygiene.
  • Function individually and as part of a team to support the laboratory analysts.
  • Conduct laboratory testing following standard methods and procedures.
  • Engaging with clients to understand their needs and communicating their quality requirements to the production team.
  • Ensure proper sample handling, testing and storage/retention.
  • Monitor use and inventories of lab chemicals and supplies.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate lab equipment.
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for adjustments.
  • Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure lab cleanliness.
  • Additional duties, as assigned by the section heads or by the management.
  • Conducting trials for new blend formulations and updating blending formulations.
  • Participate in ISO/IEC 17025:2017 internal and external audits

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • BSc in Chemistry, analytical chemistry, or related field of study

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must understand analytical instrumentation principles.
  • Must be aware of good laboratory practices.
  • Understands Fuels and Lubricant oil classes, specifications and testing requirements (both new and used oils) and Oil condition monitoring (OCM) concept
  • Knowledgeable in ASTM, IP, ISO, API and other international standard test methods for laboratory analyses of petroleum products and lube oils. 
  • Knowledge and experience in the use and operation of fuel laboratory equipment such as ICP-OES, FTIR, CCS, KV, Pour Point, Foam Tester etc.) is an added advantage.
  • Must have knowledge in ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
