Role Purpose
Bureau Veritas Malta Oil and Petrochemicals (also known locally as Inspectorate Malta Ltd), is currently recruiting inspectors to work in the Oil & Petrochemical Industry on a full-time basis. The individual must be flexible, enthusiastic and committed to work in a challenging environment with the will to learn a variety of operations.
Requirements
- Preference will be given to applicants with seafaring experience in the merchant marine industry and/or previous experience as a petroleum inspector.
- Strong command of the English language.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets/Microsoft Excel and an adequate overall level of computer literacy.
- Satisfactory knowledge of Mathematics and Physics.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and in challenging conditions.
- Possession of a valid and clean driving license.
- Full compliance with Health and Safety standards at all times.
- The successful candidate must follow all company safety and housekeeping policies and report any unsafe conditions.
- Flexibility to work irregular days and hours.
- The candidate must be able to adapt to non‑fixed schedules, which may include weekends, nights, and full offshore days.
Responsibilties
- Conduct measurement and sampling of petroleum products (e.g., diesel, gasoline) stored in the cargo tanks of ocean‑going tankers.
- Supervise the transfer of oil from vessel to vessel or from vessel to shore terminals.
- Oversee loss control procedures and supervise bulk oil cargo transfer operations.
- Prepare detailed reports for all tasks performed.
