North West Africa legal & compliance head

Position Overview

The Senior Lawyer will provide specialized legal support across Bureau Veritas's NWA operations, assisting the Legal Manager in managing contracts, compliance matters, and legal risks while developing expertise in the region's regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Support & Contract Management

• Assist in providing legal support to different product lines across the Middle East
• Review, draft, and analyze various types of agreements,
• Support the review of offers and contracts to manage legal risks across the Area
• Assist with corporate legal matters for Bureau Veritas legal entities within the Area
• Support M&A and Joint-Venture legal matters within the Area

Litigation & Risk Management

• Assist with litigation matters and coordinate with external legal counsel when required
• Support management on insurance matters in coordination with the Group Risk and Insurance Department
• Assist with debt collection matters under supervision

Compliance & Ethics Support

• Support compliance activities and maintain records of compliance-related matters
• Assist in coordinating with group compliance teams on compliance objectives and processes
• Support investigations into allegations of fraud, bribery, conflict of interest, policy violations, and other breaches of the BV Code of Ethics
• Assist in providing training and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters
• Support compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including privacy regulations and trade compliance (international sanctions & export control)

Professional Development

• Provide expert legal guidance to operations and senior management under supervision
• Develop specialized knowledge of North and West Africa  legal frameworks and Bureau Veritas operations

Required Qualifications

• Legal Qualification: Law degree and admission to practice in NWA jurisdiction(s)
• Experience: 5-10 years of engineering and construction legal practice, preferably in the North and West Africa  region
• Language: Fluent in French and English
• Core Competencies:
• Strong contract drafting and review skills such as FIDIC contracts
• Knowledge of corporate and commercial law in the North and West Africa countries
• Understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements

Working Conditions

• Based in Morocco
• May require occasional travel within the region
• Collaborative work environment with legal and compliance teams
