Rotating Mechanical Inspector - Jubail

Purpose of Position

- Ensuring that installation, materials, and testing comply with international standards and project specifications. 

- The position performs in line with the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, including the BV Code of Ethics and the BV Group policy.

Major Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and verify rotating machinery installation, alignment (shaft, soft foot, grouting), and performance, ensuring conformity with project specifications and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Perform vendor inspection and on-site surveillance of equipment during fabrication, testing, and installation, raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) when deviations occur.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (API 610, 617, 686, ASME) and project requirements.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintain material certificates, and verify inspection records.
• Analyze vibration data and mechanical performance to identify potential failures and recommend maintenance actions.
• Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards during all inspection activities. 

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree
• 8+ years of relevant experience
• As a minimum, he shall have experienced installation and alignment of different types of equipment such as pumps, motors, turbines, compressors, blowers, agitators etc.

Skills & Qualities:

Inspector shall demonstrate working knowledge of codes, such as ASME BPVC Sec I, V, VIII and IX, ASME B31.1/3/4/8 and AWS D1.1, required for the execution of the inspection work. 

He shall be able to inspect installation of field assembled fans for air fan heat exchangers and cooling towers.

Awareness regarding pipe strain on equipment, its mitigating actions and coordination with piping discipline.

Awareness regarding thermal growth in gear boxes, equipment etc. and their due consideration during installation based on approved drawings.

Ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and identify associated adjustments in Inspection & Test Plans / checklists.

Experience in pre commissioning and testing of rotating machinery.

Knowledge of different types of grouting materials and their applications.

Knowledge of different types of alignment techniques, tools required, bar sag compensation, soft foot etc.

Knowledge of different types of motor bearings and adjustment of magnetic centre.

Knowledge of assembly and dismantling requirements of different types of couplings.
