Specialty:
Background in Chemistry / biochemistry & Quality Management System
Education Degree:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, food technology, agricultural sciences, molecular biology, environmental sciences, petroleum sciences/engineering, or a relevant discipline.
Technical knowledge:
Understanding of Safety in Laboratory, HSE, Quality & ISO 17025
Strong computer and communication skills, including written & verbal English
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience
Primary Functions:
• Implements and enforces the applicable good laboratory practices described in reference QMS / 17025 Manual documents.
• Provides resources, adjusts workloads, and provides training opportunities for laboratory staff to facilitate completion of assigned tasks in a safe work environment consistent with test requirements and personnel capabilities
• Responsible for training need identifications and evaluations of the training.
• Responsible for continued compliance of all the instruments to the general procedures of calibration, equipment and measurement traceability.
• Responsible for the evaluation and appraisal of staff.
• To maintenance & up gradation of Quality Systems.
• To develop, implement & maintain the verification, calibration & maintenance of equipments.
• Develops work plans and procedures and ensures their right application.
• Assigns only competent personnel to carry out tests.
• Ensures continued accreditation of the laboratory.
• To develop the test method validation with intra and or inter laboratory.
• Support the laboratory team and provide technical assistance in data analysis and reporting whilst ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Responsible for planning preventive and scheduled maintenance and ensuring any service requests are completed as per operational requirements.
• Provides guidance and assistance to the laboratory team concerning work methods, the use of equipment and techniques including method development and validation, uncertainty of measurements, and participatein proficiency testing
programs (PTP).
• Produce, review and approve final Certificates of Quality in accordance with the clients’ instructions and Bureau Veritas/Inspectorate guidelines and standards.
• Assist in the training of laboratory staff on test methods and relevant procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant (internal and external) regulations including QHSSE requirements using company policies and procedures as appropriate.
• Coach, lead and manage the performance of team members by helping them overcome professional challenges to accomplish their responsibilities in an accurate and efficient manner.
• Set and agree individual goals for all direct reports and evaluate individual performance providing regular feedback and coaching in line with the company’s people management practices
• Conduct tests and analysis with an acceptable degree of accuracy and quality in conformance with established methods, instructions, and quality standards (if and when required)
• Record test results and support the production of test reports describing procedures/methodology used and present results in an appropriate/required manner
• Ensure that test/analytical results conform to set laboratory requirements and are available for issue in the agreed target times
• Participate actively in the PTP programs and follow up on SQC’s completion to comply with internal laboratory quality systems
• Assist the Laboratory Manager / senior staff to enhance capability levels in the laboratory through on job training of junior staff
• Ensure compliance with all relevant (internal and external) regulations including QHSSE requirements using company policies and procedures as appropriate
Technical Expertise:
Have sound knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 guidelines, QHSSE; relevant instrument expertise
Business Requirements:
• Able to manage the assigned tasks in a timely manner and up to the quality standard.
• Report timely the results with accuracy
• Collaborate with team for monitoring, training and adequacy
• Follow Management directions and guidance.
