  • Management of structural engineers
  • Design Review for concrete, steel, composite, post tension, high rise building, industrial building and marine structures
  • Conversant in International Codes
  • Good technical reporting skills in English language

Engineering Degree / Graduate Engineer / Post-graduate Degree

  • International Standards like BS, AISC, ACI, IBC etc.
  • Software i.e. SAFE/ETABS/MIDAS,/STAADPro/Sap Pro., PROKON, RAM, AutoCAD, etc
    1. Technical knowledge
  1. Proficient in handling complex design development concepts, latest software tools and technologies, and designing techniques.
  2. Understands different design software and ability to provide support in usage, problem solving and model generation.
  3. Possesses good knowledge of different software systems, and various compatibility requirements.
  4. Ability to understand and implement client/authority requirements and attend all technical meetings and manage client requests
  5. Ability to handle projects independently from start to end
  6. Conversant with relevant structural design software, techniques and codes (IBC, ACI, UBC, ASTM, AISC, etc.) and local circulars.
  7. Able to carry out structural design review for buildings including dynamic seismic design and designs pertaining to wind loads on cladding and building skins and facades according to pre-defined standard/code.
  8. Able to interpret design drawing and documents and lead the team of Engineers for proper project management and completion.
  9. Proper communication with the team members and ability to achieve targets as planned.
  10. Computer skills in both MS Offices and Structural Engineering softwares.
  11. Able to review technical reports and give approval prior to issuance.
  12. Thorough knowledge of Structural design of buildings in particular those related with concrete, steel and composite materials
  13. Knowledge of applicable Standards of country of project is a plus
  14. Licensed by Dubai Municipality (DM) for structural design review (unlimited)
    1. Experience

Minimum 15 years experience in Structural Engineering and 5 years as Design Review Team Leader over BV team of Engineers

 

  1. Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities
    1. Primary Functions
  • Manage the schedule of design review engineers and ensuring timely completion of assigned jobs.
  • Perform various technical audits and control services including design review, specialised studies, expert studies, etc. pertaining to his field of competencies. 
  • Carry out within the frame of conformity assessment services, technical audit, consultancy services, outsourcing, due diligence, design review, etc. The most common mission of the engineer within Bureau Veritas currently being design appraisal.
  • Review Technical Reports / Prepare Technical Reports and ensure correct and timely issuance of reports.
  • Sign-off reviewed reports and authorize issuance.

  • Understand project requirements, coordinate with resources and direct the projects in the right direction in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage change and effectively pass on the information down the line to concerned teams for smoother execution.

  • Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/supervisor
  • Report immediately any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
  • Report immediately any HSE incident and cooperate in investigation
  • Use appropriate PPE at work area and be aware of:
  • the risks appropriate PPE will control or minimize
  • Report immediately incase the PPE is worn off or lost.
  • Communicate to their immediate manager any unsafe work practice or condition and opportunities for improvement of HSE practices.
