Position Overview

 

Bureau Veritas Saudi Arabia is seeking a qualified Firestop Inspector to support Building & Infrastructure projects across the Kingdom. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting firestop installations, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, UL-listed firestop systems, applicable codes and standards, and project specifications.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of passive fire protection systems, inspection practices, QA/QC procedures, and construction quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret approved drawings, specifications, UL-listed firestop systems, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Verify proper selection and installation of approved firestop materials in accordance with project requirements.
  • Inspect firestop installations to ensure compliance with approved systems, manufacturer requirements, and project specifications.
  • Guide contractors and site personnel on the proper execution of firestop works.
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify non-conformities, defects, and deviations.
  • Prepare and submit Work Inspection Requests (WIRs).
  • Participate in consultant and client inspections and support the closure of inspection comments.
  • Ensure support systems and related fabrications are installed according to approved drawings and standards.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate with project teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance and quality requirements.

 

Requirements

  • UL Firestop Inspector Certification.
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in firestop inspection, installation, QA/QC, or passive fire protection works on construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of firestop systems and fire-rated assemblies.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC procedures and construction quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with MEP penetrations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and low-current systems.
  • Good knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment, and safety management systems.
  • Strong inspection, reporting, communication, and coordination skills.

 

Technical Expertise

Experience in inspecting:

  • Fire-rated walls
  • Fire-rated floors
  • Shaft walls
  • Expansion joints
  • Curtain wall perimeter fire barriers

Knowledge of:

  • Firestop materials and systems
  • UL-listed firestop assemblies
  • Passive fire protection requirements
  • Construction quality standards and inspection procedures
