Shift Supervisor-Durban

Introduction             

Bureau Veritas Inspectorate Laboratories (Pty) Ltd is recruiting a Shift Supervisor. The position is based in Durban at BVSSA and reporting to the Branch manager.

The Shift Supervisor’s responsibility is to ensure the smooth running of BV’s sampling operations in Durban.

Minimum Requirements

• 3-5 Year experience in sampling
• Matric or equivalent with mathematics
• Supervisory experience and good communication skills.
• Have a code 08 driver’s licence and actively drive safely.
• Able to work independently
• Team player
• Good leadership and Decision making

Job Specification

Accountability

• To make sure that all BV workstations are attended to on time.
• Ensure that every Sampler on shift is assigned their duties and that these duties are carried out in accordance with the relevant procedures & SOPs.
• Enforce the appropriate use, storage and maintenance of PPE by sampling Inspectors at all times.
• Report all staff management issue to ensure good time keeping and discipline.
• Follow up on all shipping instructions and instruction amendments before the start of shift.
• Ensure that the operation is running smoothly during his shift with zero contamination and report timeously to Client and Branch Operations Supervisor/ manager any possible problems foreseen before or as they occur.
• Visit all BV work stations in the harbour and ensure that all Sampling Inspectors are carrying out their duties according to SOP during the shift.
• Ensure that all the samples are marked clearly and correctly and collect and delivered where required.
• Ensure clear photographs are taken throughout all operations on site using time stamp and date app.
• Ensure that all tally paper work is completed correctly and signed off and sent to the office soonest after completion.
• Ensure vessel group chats for each appointment is updated daily 3 times per shift.
• Truck tracing for products that BV has been nominated to do the sampling on.
• Ensure stockpile sampling and temperature monitoring are done.
• Ensure safety toolbox talks are done and signed by every team member.
• Ensure hazards and risks are identified and mitigated so that all work is done safely.
• To execute work timeously, ethically and efficiently.
• To maintain good maintenance, housekeeping and cleanliness of equipment utilised in the job.
• Follow reasonable instructions given by Management of Bureau Veritas.
