Introduction

Bureau Veritas Solutions South Africa (part of the Bureau Veritas Group of Companies) is recruiting a MMU Operations Lead based in South Africa, who will be responsible for the management of the onsite Metals and Minerals Laboratories in South Africa.

The focus of the MMU Operations Lead is growth of the operations, to develop and maintain the annual budget and to ensure that client needs are met according to their requirements.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Metals and Minerals industry
  • Experience in the Quality management of testing laboratories
  • Experience in a management role
  • Experience Upstream Mining Activities, highly preferred
  • Management of Profit and Loss statements
  • Fluent in English (read, write and speak)
  • Above average computer skills (Excel, word, power point, lotus notes)
  • BCOM in Management
  • ISO 17025 Internal auditing and systems course, highly preferred

Job Specification

•Management of Resources

  • Manage Staff recruitment, development and coaching
  • Ensure equipment and consumables are managed and controlled according to the budget
  • Generating of quotations and scoping of work

•Financial management

  • Develop and achieve annual budgets
  • Monthly control goals and monthly P&L projection
  • Manage sales, profit, costs and expenses to meet/exceed budgeted financial expectations

•Goal setting and setting of KPI`s

  • Develop and set out operational and productivity targets
  • Set the Inlands operations business line strategy and objectives

•Communication

  • Facilitate the communication between employees and other departments/support functions such as IT, Finance, HR, Safety and Legal
  • Initiate cross selling efforts amongst BV colleagues, internal sales between various commodity industries

•Cooperate in high level decision making

  • Planning, organizing, leading and control of all strategic plans

•Risk management

  • To minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of unfortunate events

•Client relationship management

  • Ensure customer claims and complaints are prevented and minimized
  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account support and liaise with internal order processing staff
  • Build and maintain long term relationships with clients and key decision makers
  • Create and maintain relationships to large accounts by regular visits

•Represent the policies, ethics, and culture of the company in a leadership role
