Responsibilities:

  • Preparing Equipment: UT operators are responsible for setting up and calibrating ultrasonic testing equipment according to specifications provided for the particular inspection.
  • Conducting Inspections: They perform inspections on materials and structures to detect internal flaws, defects, or irregularities using ultrasonic waves.
  • Interpreting Results: UT operators interpret the data collected during inspections to identify any indications of defects or abnormalities. This requires a thorough understanding of ultrasonic testing principles and the ability to distinguish between different types of indications.
  • Documentation: They are responsible for accurately documenting inspection results, including recording relevant information such as inspection parameters, equipment settings, and findings.
  • Reporting: UT operators prepare detailed reports summarizing inspection results and any identified defects or anomalies. These reports may be used by engineers, quality control personnel, or other stakeholders to make decisions regarding the integrity of the inspected material or structure.
  • Maintaining Equipment: They ensure that ultrasonic testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition. This includes routine maintenance tasks as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise during inspections.
  • Safety: UT operators must adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of others in the vicinity during inspections. This may include wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following established safety guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: They may be involved in quality assurance activities, such as participating in audits or reviews of inspection procedures to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Continuous Learning: UT operators stay updated on advancements in ultrasonic testing technology and techniques through training, seminars, and professional development activities to maintain proficiency in their field.

 

Qualifications:

  • Male
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and experience
  • Secondary school and experience at least 10 years in Inspection Fields.
  • Must have valid certification in CSWIP or PCN Level 2 in UT with qualification covering material / weld joint geometry to be tested. With prior approval from COMPANY, certificates as per SNT-TC-1A may be accepted providing certifications issued by recognized third party.
  • Good skill in Microsoft Office and other computer skills.
  • Good health and able to work offshore in Oil & Gas in Southern in Thailand.
