Responsibilities:
- Manage the on-site construction materials and equipment storage, ensuring efficient inventory control and stock management.
- Oversee the receiving, handling, and storage of materials, tools, and equipment delivered to the construction site, following proper procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, including the tracking of material usage, equipment status, and stock levels.
- Conduct regular physical stock checks and audits to identify any discrepancies, losses, or damaged items, and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Implement and maintain effective stock control systems, including ordering, replenishment, and rotation, to ensure the availability of necessary materials and equipment.
- Liaise with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate the delivery and distribution of materials and equipment to the construction site.
- Identify and report any issues related to product quality, delivery delays, or supply chain disruptions, and work with the project team to find solutions.
- Train and supervise the store staff, including storekeepers and material handlers, to ensure they follow proper procedures and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Ensure the storage facilities and yard are well-maintained, secure, and compliant with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare and submit accurate reports on inventory levels, material consumption, equipment utilization, and any operational concerns.
- Collaborate with the project management team to optimize the storage and distribution of materials and equipment, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a store management or materials control role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and storage best practices.
- Proficient in using inventory management software, spreadsheets, and other relevant computer applications.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with project team members, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in the construction industry.
- Forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain one.
