Position Summary
The Local Content & Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that Bureau Veritas’s operations in Uganda and Tanzania adhere to local content requirements and commitments. This includes overseeing the execution of the Local Content Plan and Commitments, managing employment and training of local citizens and supporting technological transfer. The coordinator also assists the Regional Senior Lega Counsel with procurement contracts to align with local content regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that our operations activities and internal Local Content Plan and Commitments (LP&C) are fully executed according to the requirements.
- Ensure that employment and training of Ugandan & Tanzania citizens is executed as per the LCP&C and continuously monitored and reported as required
- Ensure transfer of skills and technologies from Bureau Veritas (BV) Uganda & Tanzania experts to Local Teams is executed according to BV Uganda & Tanzania LCP & C
- Identifying risks related to national content compliance and developing mitigation plans.
- Supervising the development of national content plans and progress reports.
- Liaising with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and local communities on national content matters.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for local capacity building and workforce development.
- Supporting knowledge transfer initiatives between international and local employees.
- Tack charge and support the Regional Senior Legal Counsel, Risk and Compliance Officer with company secretarial functions for the East African (EAF) District including preparing and maintaining legal documents and registers such as board resolutions, minutes of meetings and other corporate records, monitor changes in corporate laws and regulations. Good governance is essential.
- Take charge of reviewing MOUs for the EAF District and ensure the same is aligned with the local content requirements
- Take Charge and support the Regional Senior Legal Counsel, Risk and Compliance officer in reviewing and ensuring internal compliance pertaining to procurement contracts where BV procures services including but not limited to subcontractors-Independent Contractor Agreements, Agreements for services tp be rendered to BV, Contracts for goods to be delivered to BV, Lease/Rental Agreements for the EAF District
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in law.
Experience
- 5 years total work experience of which 2 years should be in the legal sector
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of finance management.
- Knowledge of the Ugandan Oil and Gas Industry
- Knowledge of contractual legal requirements for Procurement related contracts
- Knowledge and experience in Company Secretarial and Governance matters
Skills
- Proficient in use of word, excel, power point and excellent computer skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
- Project Management
- Excellent Presentation & Communication Skills.
