Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore (BVS) is seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Electrical Engineer to join its Dynamic Positioning and Mission Critical (DP & MC) department on a permanent basis. You will be joining a team of experienced engineers who have worked on projects worldwide. You will be trained to perform analysis of various power, control and marine auxiliary systems on vessels to produce technical reports and test programmes, to ensure vessel compliance with regulatory bodies.

The DP & MC department’s main tasks involve the production of DP Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs) and subsequent Proving/Annual Trials programmes then attending the vessel to witness these trials programmes as an independent third party.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on innovative technologies across the marine industry, including the expanding offshore renewables and energies sectors.

 

The main responsibilities include:

  • Desktop analysis of electrical and control system drawings.
  • Production of Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEAs).
  • Technical report writing.
  • Production of FMEA Proving & Annual Trials programmes.
  • Attending vessels to witness test programmes.
  • Attending client meetings.
  • Regular travel for client meetings / onsite work.

 

The main requirements are:

  • Good technical report writing.
  • UK based.
  • Proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service manner.
  • Ability to work in high pressure environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering or Control Systems.

 

Progression

Successful applicants will join an experienced team of engineers with over 50 years combined experience in the industry, who have followed similar paths from graduate positions to trusted employees in senior positions within the team.

 

Training will involve a combined mixture of desktop and on-site work, gaining first hand experience from co-workers and experienced personnel on site, whilst working on novel design concepts for the future.  You will be supported and have the opportunity to work towards industry recognised accreditation and continued career progression.

 

Details about Bureau Veritas Solutions:

The role will be based in our office in Aberdeen, mixed with home working, allowing a hybrid and flexible working environment. Attendance on vessels worldwide will also be required periodically.
