About the Role
We are growing International Risk & Safety Management team and looking for a Risk and Safety DSEAR Consultant to provide high quality consulting support to the delivery of DSEAR and other Risk and Safety services.
Responsibilities involve:
- Play an active role in the delivery and growth of the DSEAR services
- Contribution to Marketing the services
- Take ownership and provide high quality technical consultancy to clients and colleagues within the Risk & Safety Group.
- Be exemplar in client management and relationship building
- Keep abreast of current legislation, relevant national and international standards and guidelines and technical developments within the relevant field
- Ensure the use of the Consulting Group technical tools and methodologies in delivery of projects to the standard set
- Follow Consulting Group financial procedures in the delivery of projects
- Adhere to site safety practices where site work is undertaken
- Contribute to the forward workload forecast, supporting visibility and planning across the team.
- Monitor individual utilisation versus targets and activity manage optimal utilisation
What are we looking for?
Skills and Experience
- Strong practical understanding of DSEAR, including gas and dust explosion hazards.
- Experience working in operational site environments and understanding real‑world constraints.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and guidance, including IGEM, British Standards, and HSE publications.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and technical report‑writing skills.
- Confident and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A positive, proactive approach to change, viewing it as an opportunity for improvement.
- Ability to prioritise, plan and manage workload to optimise time, cost and quality.
- High level of personal drive, ownership and professional commitment.
- Continuous improvement mindset, with a willingness to adopt innovative methods and tools
Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Mechanical preferred) or a relevant scientific discipline.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Hazard Identification techniques, such as HAZOP, HAZID, or similar, either as a Scribe or Chair.
