Location - Home based, Nationwide travel

We are looking for an Assistant Technical Manager to join our growing technical team. The role will involve supporting the Technical Manager & Deputy Technical Manager, validating & compiling written schemes of examinations and assisting with fee earning work as required. As part of the role you will also Provide Technical Support to the Surveyor community and Clients Conduct Competency audits to ensure that Surveyors maintain the skills and competencies.

 

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities;

 

  • Assist the Technical Manager in all aspects of the relevant discipline.  Including:
    • Develop technical procedures, standards and technical guidance to develop and provide innovative solutions to in-service inspection processes.
    • Ensure that all technical procedures and standards are up to date.
    • Coach and mentor the engineering team.
    • Ensure we comply with ISO 17020.
  • Review and validate Written Schemes of Examination for intermediate and major pressure systems.
  • Carry out site visits to compile Written Schemes of Examination for pressure systems on a fee earning basis.
  • Provide services to fee paying and internal customers in the designated fields of expertise and maintain technical and administrative control of commercial contracts to ensure optimum efficiency and profitability.
  • Provide a high level of technical expertise within the relevant discipline to both internal and external clients.
  • Proactively implement the technical standards & service levels for Bureau Veritas.                       
  • Keep abreast of technical and legislative changes.
  • Attend and input at engineering technical trade associations, technical committees and statutory bodies, including SAFed.
  • Monitor inspection data and evaluate trends.

 

Who we are looking for  

 

You will need a minimum of a HND in Mechanical Engineering and significant experience working as a pressure Engineer Surveyor with full pressure skills. Incorporated Engineer status and willing to work towards Chartered Engineer status is desirable but not essential.

 

You will have in depth knowledge of pressure systems, in-service inspection procedures & processes with full knowledge of relevant regulations. Along with good knowledge of market, industry trends, developments and changes in legislation, along with excellent face to face communication skills with an ability to deliver training effectively.
