About the team

The Air Quality Team at Bureau Veritas provides our customers with consultancy support relating to all aspects of air quality management. Our team, spread throughout the UK, manage projects ranging from national monitoring networks to dispersion modelling assessments for individual planning applications; we also cover odour and dust management.

Through our links with Defra and the Environment Agency, our consultants have the chance to help develop and influence air quality tools and guidance used throughout the UK, as well as provide support for national monitoring networks. Our project portfolio is both prestigious and varied, enabling our team to enjoy interesting work that resonates with topical issues.

 

What will the role involve?

  • As a principal you will lead and manage some of the larger projects within the team. This would include task management of junior team members and financial management of the overall project. With regards to technical work, your focus would be on the more technically challenging parts of assessments, whilst guiding junior staff thorough the more formulaic parts.
  • At Bureau Veritas, we pride ourselves on our strong focus on people development. As a senior team member, you would have the opportunity to be involved in the leadership, development and coaching of the Air Quality team.
  • The role will include routine and pioneering assessment work and implementing innovative approaches to enable us to provide a holistic and high-quality service. You will also be responsible for developing effective relationships with new and existing client’s services include air quality monitoring programmes, dispersion modelling studies, air quality and odour impact assessments, environmental permitting applications, and environmental.
  • Finally, as a key team member you would have the responsibility to identify, lead and contribute to commercial opportunities and the future growth strategy of the team.

 

 

 

Who are we looking for?

  • A proven track record operating at Senior levels within air quality consultancy experience
  • A thorough understanding of air quality legislation, policy and guidance
  • Experience of the delivery, co-ordination, and technical review of air quality assessments
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in the application of air emissions databases and dispersion models for industrial and/or transport sources (e.g. ADMS, ADMS Roads, AERMOD)
  • Proficiency in the use of GIS and mapping software (e.g. MapInfo, Surfer)
  • Proficiency in the use of standard IT applications (e.g. Word, Excel)
  • Experience in computer programming is highly desirable (e.g. Visual Basic, Python, R)
  • Positive approach to the challenges of change and see change as an opportunity
  • Ability to prioritise and schedule objectives to optimise time, cost and quality
  • High level of personal drive and commitment
  • Strives to improve performance and uses innovative methods to get there
