About the Role

We are looking for skilled and dedicated Principal Pressure Conformity Inspectors to join our Energy and Engineering team. This exciting role includes providing act as the Specialist Engineer with respect to pressure conformity for UK Industry markets, notably Nuclear, Oil & Gas and Renewables.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the PED Technical Manager as required and deputise as necessary
  • Provide Technical Support to the PED Inspector community and Clients
  • Conduct Competency audits to ensure that Inspectors maintain the skills and competencies as required
  • Perform inspection and verification activity to a high standard in line with procedures, regulations, standards and client requirements
  • Deputise for the PED Technical Manager as required (refer to Technical Manager (PED activities) job description
  • Assist the PED Technical Manager in all aspects of the relevant discipline. Including:
  • Develop technical procedures, standards and technical guidance to develop and provide innovative solutions to in-service inspection processes
  • Ensure that all technical procedures and standards are up to date
  • Coach and mentor the PED Inspector team
  • Ensure we comply with ISO 17020
  • Develop new Inspectors as part of the induction process
  • Provide a high level of technical expertise within the relevant discipline to both internal and external clients
  • Proactively implement the technical standards & service levels for Bureau Veritas#
  • Ensure the delivery of the specific discipline supervision audit plan to maintain engineer competency
  • Keep abreast of technical and legislative changes
  • Attend and input at engineering technical trade associations, technical committees and statutory bodies as required
  • Provide services to fee paying and internal customers in the designated fields of expertise and maintain technical and administrative control of commercial contracts to ensure optimum efficiency and profitability
  • Monitor inspection data and evaluate trends as required

 

Deliverables

  • Ensure our License to Operate is maintained
  • Monitoring of competencies and authorisations including timely delivery of competency assessments
  • Review technical procedures and guidance notes relevant to the business
  • Comply with BV UK Management System
  • Inspection reports, records and PESR certificates as appropriate
  • Retain client contracts and relationships working with the Verification Engineers.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of technical content of inspection reports/Certificates.
  • Increase commercial awareness with respect to potential new opportunities with existing clients, incorporating “added value”

 

Experience & Skills Required:

  • High level of experience and knowledge of manufacture and inspection of Pressure Equipment
  • Knowledge of welding and NDT techniques
  • Knowledge of Pressure Equipment Regulations
  • Mechanical Engineering Background
  • Ability to acquire new skills/knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills

 

 

Qualifications Required:

 

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering Discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum of 100 SAFed points against SS01
  • CEng status or equivalent
