The role of the Junior Consultant is to offer a combined visit approach to our clients in performing legionella risk assessments, asbestos re-inspections, fire risk reviews and other core services in one single visit.

What will the role involve?

Our fundamental work is legionella risk assessments, drawing schematic diagrams and helping the client to understand what they need to do any why. We do a fair amount of indoor air quality work to check the temperature, humidity, particulates and bacteria within office buildings and air handling units. We have regular monitoring contracts which may require regular visits to test the temperatures, undertake sampling and attend client meetings.

We do have to enter dirty plantrooms, climb over pipes, climb up ladders and as Health and safety of the employees here at BV are a priority, working at heights training and confined space training is provided as part of our induction process. We are also very supportive with our stop work authority where if you feel there is anything unsafe you can immediately stop work and inform your line manager without risk of “getting into trouble”.

The role will include lots of travelling during the training period to spend up to three months shadowing an experienced team member. When audited and signed off to undertake work on your own, the planning team will allocate you work. You would be expected to travel into and around London and other parts of the UK. Early starts are part and parcel of this job along with an ability to manage your time and plan ahead.

Who we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who can not only work on their own but also as a valued team member. Training is ongoing in this industry as new developments are frequent so the ability to quickly absorb new information is vital.

We need someone with a level of confidence, to speak to client’s directly and use their initiative in situations not experienced before. You will also need to be able to effectively write reports and summaries.

What’s in it for you?

Full training will be provided so if you are enthusiastic, self-motivated and capable of managing your own workload in a field-based environment then this could be a fantastic opportunity for you to embark on a career within a specialist industry.

Bureau Veritas provide support with ongoing training and development and the opportunity to cross train into different health and safety service lines. In addition to a great package of company benefits including company car, private health care and 25 days holiday.
