Role: Marine Equipment Surveyor
Location: UK
ROLE PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to perform certification & inspection duties of Marine Equipment to the requirements of BV Rules for Steel Ships ensuring that the quality and technical philosophy of BV certification is maintained. You will operate with a clear customer focus and be charged with driving optimal service delivery. The role will include training and certification within the BV Marine Division surveyor certification scheme.
THE ROLE
You should:
- Hold a Degree or higher education in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Engineering or equivalent
- Have practical experience in a relevant materials or equipment inspection related field
- Ideally have proven related Marine experience and sound technical knowledge
- Have good communication skills and team spirit and also the ability to work directly with clients, peers and BV Management Team
- The ability to acquire new skills/ knowledge
- Hold a current UK driving licence
- Be willing to travel within the UK and Ireland and sometimes further afield as may be required
MAIN DUTIES
- Work with an established small team of engineers and support staff.
- Perform materials inspections, audits and type approvals within scope of delegations
- Assist with coordination of materials inspections, type approval jobs and works approvals
- Issuance of associated certificates and reports accurately and in a timely manner in order to meet KPI objectives
- Assist in surveyor training/monitoring as required
- Participate in business development
- The ideal candidate will have auditing skills – however training for this will be provided
- Operate with a clear customer focus and abide fully within the Code of Ethics policy of Bureau Veritas
