1 Year Contract

 As an ANALYST, your main responsibilities are:

  • Perform instrument analysis typically using (LC-MS, LC-MSMS or GC-MS, GC-MSMS) for analysis of contaminants and drugs in food
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to ensure a high level of accuracy in sample analysis
  • Review and prioritize daily workload to ensure sample turnaround meets client’s expectations.
  • Ensure that instruments and equipment are appropriately maintained, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Maintain Bureau Veritas’ QA standards by participating in audits and documenting all aspects of analysis, including training and proficiency
  • Identify and communicate non-conformances to Supervisor and contributes to root cause investigation and implementation of corrective actions
  • Provide supervisor/manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays
  • Participate in developing SOP’s and general work instructions
  • Provide training and guidance to more junior staff
  • All other responsibilities as assigned 


You are the ideal ANALYST if you have:

  • Post-secondary education plus 3 years of laboratory experience with food matrices
  • Theoretical knowledge of extraction techniques (i.e. SPE, liquid-liquid extractions)
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment and instrumentation, especially with respect to liquid chromatography with mass spec detection and/or gas chromatography with mass spec detection
  • Experience performing data analysis and result interpretation including a working knowledge of quality control requirements for residue analysis
  • Familiarity with government regulations for Maximum Residue Limits in Food
  • A positive outlook with the ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Good time-management, communication, and priority setting skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail orientated & record keeping skills
  • Ability to accurately follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
  • Able to work variable shift schedule
