JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Planner
REPORTS TO: Director of Planning
JOB SUMMARY:
Perform professional review of zoning, platting and related development applications, review and interpret long range and comprehensive plans and development regulations, develop municipal planning documents and plans including amendments to/or preparation of new comprehensive plans, small area plans, and development ordinances, performs special planning projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and interpret long range and comprehensive plans and development regulations.

Develop municipal planning documents and plans, including amendments to/or new comprehensive plans, small area plans, development ordinances, and alternative solutions to issues and concerns raised by Cities.

Assist in developing, maintaining, updating, implementing and enforcing planning and zoning ordinances, and assist in maintaining official ordinances and maps.

Present data, statistical and project information, development applications and proposed ordinances and development standards at public meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Possesses valid Texas Class “C" license when hired.
PREFERENCES:
-
American Institute of certified Planners (AICP) Certification.

Master’s degree in Planning, Geography, or closely related field.

Ability to use AutoCAD.
